My Wellspring Story...

My Wellspring Story has many chapters... from my initial diagnosis with Breast Cancer and discovering my disease was metastatic... navigating treatment and changes to my health care... becoming a caregiver for my husband during his battle with cancer and becoming a widow while caring for my two young children.

Wellspring Chinguacousey has been behind me for all of these life events and I am so grateful for the support they give.

Here is a moment that Priscilla at Wellspring wrote about after it happened:

"The Big Walk isn’t just about distance — it’s about impact.

It’s about Hayley — a Big Walk Ambassador, mother of two, and one of the bravest souls in our Wellspring family. Last summer, Hayley faced unimaginable loss: both she and her husband Chris, were in treatment when she tragically lost him to cancer. This past Father’s Day — their first without him — Hayley did what so many caregivers and survivors do: she stayed strong for her children (7 and 5). But when Monday came and she finally had a moment to breathe, she broke down in the school parking lot, unsure where to turn.

Then she remembered: Wellspring is where you go to do all this.

Instead of going home to grieve alone, she came to Wellspring. She joined a Zumba class, laughed and cried with our staff and fellow members, and found comfort in community. Hayley’s journey is one of thousands that your support helps sustain."

On October 5, 2025, I will be participating in the 2025 Big Walk for Cancer Support to raise funds for Wellspring Chinguacousy Cancer Support Foundation.

The fundraising event will help fund cancer support programs and services that Wellspring Chinguacousy Cancer Support Foundation provides, free of charge for individuals and families living with cancer.
