Our story ⚡️
Saturday 24th Feb In July 2022 my son Benjamin was lethargic vomiting and very unwell. We brought him to a walk in clinic over the weekend and they said he had an ear infection. The next day his eye was swollen shut. After being in and out drs offices and the ER. Bennie was admitted to our local hospital for a sinus infection. A couple days later we were sent home with antibiotics. But just a few days after being home Benjamin began feeling ill again, stomach pain, vomiting and fatigue. I knew something was wrong so we ended up at SickKids. After bloodwork and a couple hours in the ER. My husband and I were led to another room where the doctor told us they found blast cells in Benjamin’s bloodwork and they suspect he may have cancer. Within 30 minutes we were brought up to the oncology floor at SickKids and admitted. The next morning we met Benjamin’s incredible oncologist and his team and they confirmed his diagnosis of Acute Lympoblastic Leukaemia. A plan was set in place, Benjamin had surgery to have his port inserted and chemo began. Benjamin went through 9 months of intense treatment and is now in the maintenance stage of his treatment. He is doing really well and expected to finish treatment this October 2024.Thank you to my Sponsors
