Bennett the Brave
Our cancer journey began August 16th 2022, just 11 days before our oldest son Bennett turned 6.
Bennett’s fight began when, after
taking him to McMaster Children’s Hospital with flu like symptoms, the Doctor
gave him a quick physical and discovered some pain in Bennett’s stomach while
applying pressure. Some routine scans revealed a large tumor (15cms) which
seemed to be growing from a rib on his right side. His diagnosis of Ewing
Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer came shortly after.
Following his diagnosis he immediately underwent 6 intense rounds of chemo, many hospital admissions, major surgery to remove the tumor and a few of his ribs, followed by 8 more rounds of chemo with 31 days of radiation intertwined and our Bennett was able to ring the bell on April 16th 2023. Bennett was a star throughout his treatment and is thankful for all the support he received along the way.
On
March 27, 2024, we will be walking the runway at Well Dressed for Spring in
support of Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation at Yorkville Village.
This event will help raise funds for the cancer support programs
and services that Wellspring provides, at no cost, to individuals and
families living with cancer. Please help us reach our fundraising goal, so that
together we can make a difference in the lives of Wellspring members.
