Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge

I'm fundraising for...

I am participating in the Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge taking place this June in support of Wellspring Alberta. I am excited to take on the challenge and look forward to pushing myself to climb in support of people living with cancer.

By donating to me, you are helping to make a difference in the lives of many! Proceeds from the event will support Wellspring Alberta, an organization that provides free programs, services and support to individuals living with cancer – those diagnosed, caregivers and kids. Thank you for helping us make a difference in the life of someone facing cancer so that no one has to face cancer alone! For more information about Wellspring Alberta, visit wellspringalberta.ca.

Wellspring Alberta will gift a portion of the proceeds to the Firefighters Assistance Charitable Society (FACS) whose mission is to empower and strengthen the firefighter by enhancing the success and resilience of the firefighter community.

Please support me and these deserving organizations today by making your tax-deductible donation online.

Climbing with Purpose

Saturday 1st Jun
This year of the stair climb hits closer to home. Last year I was deployed as part of the provincial wild fire response and missed the stair climb, the day after I got the call that would change my life forever: my mom had stage 4 cancer that was very progressed. We only had 2 short weeks before my mom passed. It has been an emotional year working through the loss.

My mom was a volunteer Firefighter for over 17 years in addition to her full-time job as an RN for over 43 years. She is likely the reason I am in the fire service today as it wasn’t my original career path. While my mom’s cancer progression was so fast that the doctors couldn’t confirm the primary site, the probable site and her time as a Firefighter would have likely qualified as a presumptive cancer based on her time firefighting.

It makes this cause that much more personal and this year I climb in her honour

I'm so proud of you and your determination to make this climb in tribute to your mom, our Renee. She will walk with you every step of the way. And cancer patients will feel her touch too because of the $$$ raised. Well done young Skywalker! Hugs and love coming your way from Williamsburg.
