I am participating in the Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge taking place this June in support of Wellspring Alberta. I am excited to take on the challenge and look forward to pushing myself to climb in support of people living with cancer.

As I sit at a fire chiefs conference in Calgary attending all sorts of interesting and developmental seminars, it occurred to me that in 2 weeks time I would be climbing the tower that I climbed last year. I’ve seen it walking to the BMO center. And I can’t help but feel a bit guilty that I haven’t trained harder for this event. But it also occurs to me that the reason we climb and the fundraising we do is to support people who have some of the most life altering situations delivered to them at unexpected times. Even though I’m ill prepared, I will show up, I will push through, and I will complete this climb in support and solidarity with the great work that wellspring does.
