Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge

My why

In 2011 my dad lost his battle to cancer, his tumour was on his main artery (by his heart) he went into cardiac arrest while driving home, I was there it was on the side of highway 16 on February 19 the coldest day that month. I performed CPR I was unable to save his life at the age of 18 this was more trauma then I was prepared to go through. Though I like to participate in events raising money for cancer since I lost my dad in 2011 it will never bring him back. I can only hope that one day they find a cure so that nobody else has to go through what I went through that day. Cancer doesn’t discriminate, it doesn’t pick an age, a gender, a race it doesn’t care!

Cancer is the leading cause to fire fighter deaths, I am doing what I can to protect my lungs and body from the toxins I encounter on different fire calls so hopefully I don’t add to this statistic.
This fundraiser isn’t to raise money to find a cure, the proceeds go to wellsprings Alberta is a warm welcoming community that provides a wide range of support to those living with cancer and their caregivers it provides support, resources and programs to help improve there lives. This is a no charge program so relies heavily on donations to keep a float, and no referral needed. There door is open to you no matter how early no matter how late, they have helped many families, and will continue to do so.

Please consider supporting me as I walk up 57 flights of stairs I will think about all of the love and support that helped get me there.

Thank you, much love Britney Palmer

When times get tough and you’re not sure if you can continue, think about everyone you are doing this for and how they possibly thought the same but continued to fight. One step in front of the other.
