I'm challenging the Chief!
Dear friends,
I have the incredible honour this year of being one of the very few non-firefighters to participate in this year's Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge at Brookfield Place, the tallest tower in downtown Calgary.
The catch -- I am challenging Fire Chief Steve Dongworth to a race up each of the 57 floors and 1370 steps. All the while in full firefighter gear!
Firefighters selflessly put their lives on the line every day to protect our communities. Unfortunately, firefighters are at extremely increased risk of developing cancer due to exposure in the line of duty.
I've set an ambitious goal of raising $5,000 in just a few short days. The proceeds from this event will directly benefit firefighter support programs and assistance to those battling cancer.
These brave women and men run into burning buildings as everyone else is running out. They never hesitate to answer the call whenever any of us need help.
So let's rally. Let's show our gratitude. And let's guarantee that not a single one of our heroes must face cancer alone.
