2025 Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge

I'm fundraising for... MY DAD AND EVERYONE I KNOW THATS BEEN AFFECTED BY CANCER.

This year I'm dedicating my climb to my dad who I lost in 2022 and all my family and friends who are fighting cancer or have been affected by it.

Cancer has affected some many people in my life and I know in every ones life. I'm vary passionate about this fundraiser and this is my way of helping raise money for a great cause.

I am participating in the Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge taking place this June in support of Wellspring Alberta. I am excited to take on the challenge and look forward to pushing myself to climb in support of people living with cancer.

By donating to me, you are helping to make a difference in the lives of many! Proceeds from the event will support Wellspring Alberta, an organization that provides free programs, services and support to individuals living with cancer – those diagnosed, caregivers and kids. Thank you for helping us make a difference in the life of someone facing cancer so that no one has to face cancer alone! For more information about Wellspring Alberta, visit wellspringalberta.ca.

Wellspring Alberta will gift a portion of the proceeds to the Firefighters Assistance Charitable Society (FACS) whose mission is to empower and strengthen the firefighter by enhancing the success and resilience of the firefighter community.

Please support me and these deserving organizations today by making your tax-deductible donation online.

Why I Climb

Friday 2nd May

Why I'm Participating in the Wellspring Firefighter Stair Climb Challenge to Raise Money for Cancer Support

As a volunteer firefighter for the past 18 years, I’ve dedicated myself to helping others during their toughest moments. But today, I’m taking on a new challenge—not to fight fires, but to fight cancer. This year once again, I’m participating in the Wellspring Firefighter Stair Climb Challenge to raise money for cancer support, and I’m doing it for all families affected by this devastating disease, not just those in the firefighting community.

The Impact of Cancer on Families Everywhere

Cancer is an illness that doesn’t discriminate—it affects people from all walks of life, in every community. Over the years, I’ve witnessed the toll cancer takes on families. I’ve seen friends, colleagues, and loved ones face the hardest battles of their lives, and I’ve watched as cancer changes not just the person who is diagnosed, but their entire family. The emotional, physical, and financial strain can feel overwhelming.

While firefighters are at an increased risk due to our exposure to toxins and chemicals, cancer doesn't only affect those who work in dangerous professions. It affects people in every community, of every age, and of every background. That’s why I’m participating in this stair climb challenge—not just for firefighters, but for all the families whose lives have been touched by cancer. Whether it's a spouse, a parent, a child, or a close friend, cancer’s reach is far and wide.

The Wellspring Firefighter Stair Climb Challenge

The Wellspring Firefighter Stair Climb Challenge is a powerful event that challenges participants to climb the stairs of a tall building. This may seem like a daunting task, and it is—it’s meant to reflect the kind of uphill struggle many people with cancer face on a daily basis. It’s a reminder of the endurance it takes to keep going, even when things seem impossible.

This event raises funds for Wellspring, an organization that provides free, non-medical support to individuals and families living with cancer. Their programs include counseling, fitness support, nutritional guidance, and educational resources to help cancer patients and their families navigate the complex emotional and physical journey of the disease. Wellspring’s mission is to make sure that no one has to go through cancer alone, and that’s why I’m so passionate about supporting their work.

Why I’m Involved

I’m participating in this challenge because I believe that every family affected by cancer deserves access to support and resources. As someone who has spent years serving my community as a firefighter, I know the importance of solidarity and support. When we come together, we’re stronger—whether we’re fighting fires, or fighting for the well-being of those battling cancer.

Cancer can feel isolating, but it doesn’t have to be. Through this climb, I want to raise funds and awareness for the many families who are navigating this difficult journey. The Wellspring Firefighter Stair Climb Challenge is an opportunity to show that we are united in the fight against cancer, and that we will support each other every step of the way.

How You Can Help

This climb represents more than just a physical challenge—it’s an opportunity to raise funds for a cause that touches millions of lives. Your support can make a tangible difference. Every dollar donated goes directly to Wellspring’s programs that offer vital support to cancer patients and their families. These programs help people cope with the emotional, physical, and financial challenges of cancer, and they give families the resources they need to keep going.

Please consider making a donation to my fundraising page, and help me make a real impact in the lives of people affected by cancer. Whether you have a personal connection to this disease or just want to help those who need it most, your contribution can provide the support that makes all the difference.

Together, we can climb higher and support families in need. Together, we can fight cancer—one step at a time.

Thank you for your generosity, and for helping me make this climb count.
