Help me support Wellspring through my Firefighter Stairclimb
I am participating in the Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge taking place this June in support of Wellspring Alberta. I am excited to take on the challenge and look forward to pushing myself to climb in support of people living with cancer.
By donating to me, you are helping to make a difference in the lives of many! Proceeds from the event will support Wellspring Alberta, an organization that provides free programs, services and support to individuals living with cancer – those diagnosed, caregivers and kids. Thank you for helping us make a difference in the life of someone facing cancer so that no one has to face cancer alone! For more information about Wellspring Alberta, visit wellspringalberta.ca.
Wellspring Alberta will gift a portion of the proceeds to the Firefighters Assistance Charitable Society (FACS) whose mission is to empower and strengthen the firefighter by enhancing the success and resilience of the firefighter community.
Please support me and these deserving organizations today by making your tax-deductible donation online.

Station 5 Steps Up for Cancer Support
Wednesday 28th Jan
Out in Spruce View, Red Deer County Station 5 may be a smaller rural hall, but our commitment to our community is anything but small. Every call we respond to, every training night, and every public event has one goal: keeping our neighbours safe. This year, we’re taking that commitment to a new height—57 storeys, to be exact—by joining the Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge in Calgary.
Why We Climb
Firefighters see first-hand how hard cancer hits families, friends, coworkers, and members of our own fire service. The Stairclimb Challenge is our chance to fight back in a different way. Wearing our gear and climbing 1,370 steps is difficult, but it is nothing compared to the challenges faced by people living with cancer and those who support them.
The event raises funds for Wellspring Alberta, which provides free programs and services to people affected by cancer—patients, caregivers, kids, and families—so that no one has to face cancer alone. It also supports firefighter-focused assistance, recognizing the physical and mental toll this job can take.
Station 5’s Role
For our crew at Station 5, this climb is about more than fitness or bragging rights. It is about:
Honouring community members who have battled or are battling cancer.
Standing with fellow firefighters who have faced occupational cancers.
Showing that even a rural station can have a big impact when we work together.
We train on our own time, before and after shifts, running stairs, working on cardio, and preparing our bodies and minds for the climb. Every step we take in training represents the support we hope to provide to someone facing one of the hardest fights of their life.
How You Can Help
You do not need to wear bunker gear or climb stairs to be part of this effort—your support from home means just as much.
Consider making a donation of any amount to our Stairclimb fundraising page.
Share our link with friends, family, or coworkers and help spread the word.
Dedicate your gift in honour or memory of someone who has faced cancer.
Together, we can turn each step into real, tangible support for people who need it.
A Message from Station 5
From all of us at Station 5, thank you for cheering us on, supporting our crew, and standing with those affected by cancer. We’re proud to represent Red Deer County on the stairs, and even prouder to climb on behalf of our community.
If you’re able, please donate what you can and help us reach our goal—one step, one storey, and one act of generosity at a time.
