How the Walk Supports Wellspring Chinguacousy
Each walker raises money as part of their participation in Wellspring Chinguacousy's Big Walk for Cancer Support. This money goes directly to Wellspring Chinguacousy and can help fund any number of crucial programs. These funds help provide the many supportive care programs and services offered at Wellspring, to help those living with cancer and their loved ones overcome the practical, emotional, physical and informational challenges that come with a diagnosis. For example:
- Raise $600 and provide 2 families with access to short-term counselling
- Raise $1,000 and provide one person with the opportunity to participate in a 20-week, personalized Cancer Exercise program
- Raise $4,500 and provide 96 individuals with access to 8 sessions of Nourish (Wellspring’s Nourish program covers a variety of nutritional topics through education and demonstration.)

The Need
Hearing the words “you have cancer” can be debilitating. Over Six hundred Canadians are diagnosed with cancer every day, and 80% have significant physical, emotional, and financial challenges that go well beyond the important medical treatments they receive in hospital. That’s where Wellspring Chinguacousy fits in.
Our Solution
At Wellspring Chinguacousy, people living with cancer can exchange information, develop a support system and create a sense of hope in a warm, caring community. A network of registered charities, Wellspring offers programs and services that meet the emotional, social, physical and practical needs of people living with cancer and those who care for them.
Our Impact
Across Canada last year, Wellspring Chinguacousy served over 1,000 individuals with members noting improvement to their health, wellbeing and overall quality of life. We seek to reach significantly more people next year with your help!
