What is the Wellspring Ride for Cancer Support?

Are you longing for adventure, looking for a unique challenge, and want to make a difference in the lives of others? Then the Wellspring Ride for Cancer Support - Bike to Blue is for you.

This year, teams of cyclists will ride together for 3 days to complete a journey from Brampton to Blue Mountain Village while raising money for cancer support programming.

Since 2012, the Wellspring Ride for Cancer Support has raised more than $4.2 million – providing life-enhancing programs and services for cancer patients, their family members and those who care for them. Every year the Wellspring Ride for Cancer Support serves up a new adventure destination. Previous destinations have included Austin, Texas; New Orleans, Louisiana; Miami, Florida; Las Vegas, Nevada; San Antonio, Texas and Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Dates: September 21-24, 2023

How it works: You will ride ~120km/day for three days, in one of three pace groups (accommodating different cycling speeds and preferences).

  • Sept 21: Launch from Brampton to Horseshoe Valley Resort
  • Sept 22: Horseshoe Valley Resort to Blue Mountain Village via Midland, Tiny Township
  • Sept 23: Collingwood Loop, ending at Blue Mountain Resort for finish line celebrations
  • Sept 24: Optional morning ride

Funds Raised: Each cyclist raises money for Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation: 3-day riders raise a minimum of $5000; and 1-day riders raise a minimum of $2500.

What are the different roles?

3-Day Riders

3-Day Riders take on the full Bike to Blue adventure! From Sept 21 - 23, they ride in a team from Brampton to Horseshoe Valley Resort, ending in Blue Mountain Village (with an optional ride on Sept 24). Each will be required to raise a minimum of $5,000 to support Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation. and will participate in training rides, an orientation session, and a variety of social events to welcome them to the team!

1-Day Riders

1-Day Riders will participate in the final day of the ride on Sept 23, 2023, and join the finish line festivities in Blue Mountain Village. Each will be required to raise a minimum of $2,500 to support Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation and will participate in training rides, an orientation session, and a variety of social events to welcome them to the team!

Drivers

Drivers are the crucial support participants who ensure the riders are safe on the roads. They drive on-road support vehicles providing medical, mechanical and other transport service support to riders. Drivers are encouraged to fundraise, and are also asked to participate in the Bike to Blue orientation and social events leading up to the Ride.

Champions

A Wellspring Champion is someone who is facing a cancer journey or who has survived the cancer experience. They motivate and encourage the Bike to Blue ride team, help raise funds, and spread the message about Wellspring throughout the ride. They will be asked to be a Wellspring ambassador and participate in outreach activities associated with Bike to Blue.
