I'm fundraising for friends, family and neighbors impacted by cancer.

Somehow I survived last year's stairclimb. And since cancer hasn't gone anywhere, it's time to climb again and improve my time.

I am participating in the Calgary Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge taking place this June in support of Wellspring Alberta. All 1,370 glorious steps to the top.

I am excited to take on the challenge and join my colleagues from the Stirling Fire Department as we look forward to pushing ourselves to climb in support of people living with cancer.

Proceeds from the event will support Wellspring Alberta, an organization that provides free programs, services and support to individuals living with cancer – those diagnosed, caregivers and kids. Can I improve my time?

Sunday 25th Feb

When I participated in the Stair Climb last year, I finished 213th spot out of 423 participants. Not bad for a desk dweller. It took me 20 mins and 10 seconds to climb 57 floors and conquer all 1,370 steps.

So the question now is whether I can beat that benchmark. With just over 3 months to go... it's time to get serious on some of the training and maybe drop a few pounds along the way.
