Well Dressed for Spring 2025

I'm fundraising for... Wellspring

On March 26, 2025, I will be walking the runway at Well Dressed for Spring in support of Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation at Yorkville Village.

This event will help raise funds for the cancer support programs and services that Wellspring provides, at no cost to individuals and families living with cancer.

As you may, or may not, I am a lung cancer survivor, and I believe I have a lot of optimism , strength and hope to share with those on the journey with cancer.

It is my pleasure to be able to give back to such a worthy organization providing invaluable community and support to those on this path.

Please help me reach my fundraising goal, so that together we can make a difference in the lives of Wellspring members.

Why Wellspring ?

As many of you know, I was diagnosed with neuroendocrine lung cancer, and had a very successful surgery in early December 2011. When one hears that they have been diagnosed with cancer it is a lot to hear.  Many of one's perspective and priorities change immediately.
I know I had to arrange for care for my teenage daughter, support at work, support to get to and from appointments and surgery.
I was very blessed at how my community of friends, neighbours and co-workers showed up for me, making sure my dogs were walked, there food in the house, my daughter taken care of, rides to and from her school bus arranged, and the list goes on. I live in a world where many people have big and caring hearts.
One thing I did miss was having a community, or even one friend, who was going through what I was. I wished I had known about Wellspring at that time, with all of their amazing programs and activities available at no charge to people going through their cancer journey.
It is my complete pleasure to be able to make a contribution to such a worthwhile project (which does not receive any funding from government), to contribute to the ongoing support that Wellspring gives to its' community.
Just prior to my cancer surgery in 2011, I spent a week in California doing an immersion into meditation and yoga practices with Deepak Chopra and his amazing team. The following year I began to study with one of his teachers , Davidji, to become a Certified Meditation Teacher.
Nothing is by coincidence. The tools I was equipped with prior to my surgery were incredibly powerful and important to my recovery.
I am hopeful that my story, for which I am very blessed, can be an inspiration for others going through a cancer diagnosis and treatment ( or not). We each walk our own path, and I would like to be there to support others on their path.
