Help me support Wellspring through Pedal to PEI
From August 15-22, 2026, I will be supporting a team of riders from Toronto to Charlottetown to raise funds for Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation.
The fundraising event will help fund cancer support programs and services that Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation provides, free of charge for individuals and families living with cancer.
My Story
I have always prioritized my health through an active lifestyle, regular physicals, and annual PSA testing. When I noticed concerning symptoms and pushed for further testing, a MultiModal MRI revealed a high likelihood of metastatic prostate cancer. A biopsy at Sunnybrook confirmed Stage 4 prostate cancer that had spread to the lymph nodes and bones. With surgery not an option, I was referred to a specialist in metastatic disease and am currently on a Phase 3 clinical trial. While my condition is not curable, my excellent oncology team is helping me manage it, and I face each day with grace and hope.
I am filled with gratitude for the unwavering love and support of my family, friends, and my community at Celebration Presbyterian Church in Markham, whose prayers and encouragement have genuinely deepened my Christian faith through this journey.
My connection with Wellspring began when Westerkirk House was briefly mentioned during a check-up at Sunnybrook's Odette Cancer Centre. On a whim, I walked in one day and was immediately greeted with warmth, given a tour, and shown the services available — all at my own pace. I enrolled in the excellent three-month exercise program at Westerkirk House and have enjoyed it so much that I continue with the maintenance program nearly nine months later.
Westerkirk House has become an essential part of my journey, and I am truly grateful for it. The expertly designed fitness program continuously evolves and challenges you, but it is the community that makes it extraordinary — a safe, uplifting space where people who understand cancer come together to encourage one another, grow stronger, and even find joy.
My message to others: get your regular checkups and consider annual PSA testing. And if you are facing a cancer journey, know you don't have to go it alone. Reaching out to Wellspring may bring you more grace, love, and support than you ever imagined possible.
