I'm fundraising for...Mitch
This September, I’ll be riding in the Cancervive Ride for Wellspring, and this year, it’s deeply personal.
I’m riding for my friend and former colleague Mitch Conaghan, who we lost to cancer in December.
Mitch was one of those people you don’t forget—kind, thoughtful and full of heart. He was a core part of our team, and an avid cyclist. He faced his diagnosis with immense courage and his trademark Mitch spice, and even when he was very sick. I was unable to do the ride last year—but I promised him I would this year. Now, I ride with him in my heart every kilometer.
I’m also riding for the thousands of others in our province who are living with cancer—people who are navigating the fear, pain, and uncertainty that a diagnosis brings. 1 in 2 Albertans will face cancer in their lifetime. That number is hard to hear—but Wellspring Alberta is there to help.
Wellspring is a charitable organization that provides free programs and services—everything from counselling and exercise, to financial guidance and peer support—for anyone living with cancer, including their families and caregivers. There’s no referral needed. Their vision is simple: no one should have to face cancer alone.
